The Cultural Inclusion Program exists to help the City of Beaverton become increasingly welcoming, inclusive, representative, and responsive to historically underrepresented and underserved communities, particularly communities of color, immigrants, and refugees. The program’s key areas of work include language access, outreach and civic engagement, immigrant welcoming and integration, staff development, and support for the city’s overall equity strategy.
The Cultural Inclusion Specialist (classification title: Support Specialist 2) will be integral in sustaining the city’s robust Cultural Inclusion program by providing administrative support and coordination for ongoing programming, communications, language assistance services, financial and database management, and outreach. They will be part of a small team of excellent service providers for internal and external stakeholders, collaborating across city departments and with community partners to enhance the city’s equity and inclusion work. This position requires some evening and weekend hours.
This position requires an individual to possess excellent organizational and communications skills including the ability to interact respectfully with people from different backgrounds than your own, effectively build and maintain strong working relationships with community stakeholders and internal staff. The successful candidate will need to learn new systems and effectively organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and demonstrate attention to detail, thoroughness of work, and ability to follow through on complex tasks.
