University Park’s next Director of Human Resources will join an outstanding organization that values and supports its employees, resulting in a historically low rate of turnover with long-tenured employees. The human resources director, who reports to the city manager, provides for all personnel-related policies and procedures, programs, and activities and oversees all worker’s compensation and risk management functions. More specifically, the director manages employee benefits; administers the compensation plan; provides support for the organization through recruiting and placing qualified applicants in jobs; is responsible for the City’s employee relations program; designs and delivers training programs to City employee; and administers the City’s self-insured worker’s compensation and third-party liability claims funds; The Human Resources Department has a budget of $371,272 and two employees: the director and a Human Resources Assistant.
The City has a Council-Manager form of government, with a mayor and four council positions elected at large. The City has a total 2016 budget of $48.7 million, approximately 247 full-time employees and ten departments. University Park is located approximately five miles north of downtown Dallas, and is a predominantly residential community with a population of 23,500. It is known for its attractive homes, beautiful parks, numerous churches, and outstanding schools.
Requirements for this position are a Master’s Degree and five to seven years’ experience in human resources in a supervisory or management position. Preferred qualifications include expertise in employee compensation and benefits, employee training and development, workers’ compensation and risk management, and knowledge of local government employment law. Service as a director or assistant director and local government experience are also preferred qualifications.
The salary range is $120,000 – $135,000 depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefit package.
