The County

Loudoun County’s next Director of Family Services has an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the County’s children, families, and individuals who need it the most. The director oversees all staff, is responsible for implementing all department programs and services, and works with the staff to develop the annual budget and to ensure programmatic compliance and reporting requirements of state and federal funding providers. The position is open because the long-serving director is retiring at the end of calendar year 2016.

The adopted FY2017 budget for the department is $34.2 million with 196.9 FTEs. The Deputy Director, Assistant Director, and Operations Coordinator report to the Director.

The department serves the most vulnerable in the county, with a mission to “help people achieve safe and productive lives.” The department achieves its mission through four program areas: Child Services; Adult and Family Programs; Housing and Community Development; and Facilities and Internal Development.

The Job

loudon-county-va-logoMinimum requirements for this position are a master’s degree and 10 years of related experience. A bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience is also acceptable. Local government experience is strongly preferred, but not required. Preferred qualifications include high level management experience leading teams in family services, housing, social services or other related fields. Educational degrees can be in Social Work, Public Administration or other related fields. Must have a valid driver’s license and submit to a CPS background check and a criminal background check, and comply with Human Resources’ Driving Policy.

The hiring salary range is expected to be $130,000 – $160,000 depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefit package.
