A Model for Introducing Yourself to a Community

Great work by ELGL-Central Oregon co-founder and Sunset Empire Parks and Recreation District General Manager Justin Cutler in introducing himself to the community and charting his vision for the community.

Justin will be available to discuss his experience at the ELGL Happy New (Fiscal) Year Social this Thursday.

Connecting to the community and taking time to stick my toes in the sand

Guest Column By Justin Cutler Sunset Empire Parks and Recreation District General Manager

SEASIDE – First off I would like to say thank you for welcoming me to the District and for making the transition as easy as possible. Outgoing General Manager, Mary Blake, and the Staff of the District have done a great job providing a solid orientation for me to the community, the District, and all that is going on in Seaside. As of Friday, July 13th I will have been on the job for a month and what a month it has been.

During my first month I have focused on getting to know the District Staff. I have met with just about everyone from lifeguards, custodial staff, board members, management team, and recreation leaders. I have heard several stories about the District having a positive impact on staff, and patrons. The Staff enjoy working with and for the community, and strive everyday to do the best job they can for you. I look forward to continuing to provide a positive work environment for our staff and helping them to be the best they can be in all that they do for you.

In addition to interviewing the staff, I have taken classes and observed a wide variety of programs to better understand what we offer, and I will be taking more classes in the coming months to connect with patrons and hear from them what they enjoy about the District and areas we can improve upon to better meet your recreational needs.
