About the Library: The Hillsboro Public Library is a department of the City of Hillsboro, as well as one of 12 Washington County Cooperative Services member libraries that share a countywide collection of over 1,600,000 items.
The Library offers a full calendar of free programs, classes, cultural events and access to Internet- connected computers and WiFi. Online, cardholders have 24/7 access to the catalog of extensive online resources including educational software, articles, directories and databases. Librarians provide early literacy activities to infants and children, and workshops, information and support to their caregivers. Multiple drop-in storytimes for pre-schoolers and their families are scheduled throughout the week.
The Position: The Library Director plans, organizes, directs and supervises the activities and personnel of the City Library system. Additionally, the Director serves as a member of the professional advisory body of the library system consortium, WCCLS. The Library Director partners with the Library Foundation of Hillsboro to realize the Library Foundation Strategic Plan and participates in its implementation including carrying out its fundraising activities. The Director also serves as the liaison between the Library Board and Library Foundation.
The Library Director manages 110 employees and actively participates as a member of the City Manager’s management team and serves as a liaison to Human Resources, Finance, Capital Construction, Planning, Police, Fire, Building, Parks and Recreation and other City departments. The Director participates in City committees and engages on citywide projects including ethics discussions, capital planning, visioning, among many others. Salary range: $97,218 – $127,932
