POSITION: GIS/Environmental Internship
SALARY: $15.00 – $18.69 Hourly
OPENING DATE: 03/11/14
CLOSING DATE: 04/07/14 05:00 PM

To apply for an intern position you must be a student currently enrolled in school. Spring 2014 graduates will not be eligible for this internship unless documentation of continued educational classes (graduate school) can be provided at the time of application. Hours are flexible based on school schedule, with the ability to work up to 40 hours during school and school breaks. Internship duration is 12 months.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, environmental science, geography, urban and regional planning or other natural science. Practical experience and/or coursework applying GIS software to solve real problems using public or crowd sourced data. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Skills

Experience with ArcMap data management, analysis and mapping tools, including; versioned editing, python, spatial and 3D analyst. Experience creating, editing and visualizing spatial data using Google Earth and SketchUp or open-source tools such as Open Street Map and Quantum GIS. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator. Ability to: Collaborate; Be part of a team that believes in listening, sharing ideas and constantly improving; Develop systematic approaches and code to solve issues and complete tasks; Organize your work and tasks in a dynamic business environment; Research and distill complex analyses and projects into clear documents.
