Deputy City Manager, Salem, OR
The Deputy City Manager is assigned coordination responsibility for projects that span multiple departments, assists the City Manager in supporting the Mayor and City Council, oversees the City’s legislative agenda and processes, provides support to City Council committees, serves as Acting City Manager in the City Manager’s absence, meets with area public officials and private-sector associations on projects or issues, and supervises the staff in the City Manager’s Office. The Deputy also serves on city-wide committees related to enterprise system/project coordination and development.
The City Manager’s Office is comprised of the City Manager and Deputy City Manager, a three-member Budget Office, a Franchise Administrator, a part-time Public Information Officer and two administrative staff. The Mayor’s office is located in the same suite and staff members also support the Mayor and Councilors and coordinate responses to citizen inquiries.
