Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director, City of Sidney, Ohio

The City of Sidney (pop. 21,000) is conducting a national search for an experienced, proven, innovative individual for the position of Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director. The Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director serves as the chief staff aide to the City Manager and is responsible for managing the operations of the Public Works Group: consisting of Utilities Departments, Street Department, Engineering Department, Transportation Department, Fleet/Garage Department and Service Center. This person is also responsible for Administration of the Engineering Services contract and Solid Waste contract, provides input and managerial control over the City’s Capital Improvement Program.

The Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director directly supervises six employees, including four (4) Division Heads, and has indirect supervision of 59 regular other employees. The Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director is responsible for the preparation and administration of an $11 million operating and a capital improvement budget of several million dollars annually.

The Assistant City Manager will be responsible for managing staff in human resources and risk management, work proactively to recruit small businesses and provide support to existing local businesses and work with the executive management team to evaluate service delivery effectiveness and implement best practices to realize efficiencies in public service delivery.
