20 hours per week; hours are flexible; some evenings and weekends may be required. Duration: through April 2013. This position is open to graduate students or recent graduates seeking work experience in the field of communications or planning. This position is in Communications, but imbedded within Planning and Development. Wage is dependent on education and experience.
The purpose of this position to support public outreach that will allow Metro and the project team (cities of Beaverton, Durham, King City, Lake Oswego, Portland, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, Multnomah and Washington counties, TriMet and ODOT) to engage stakeholders and the public in the discussion of the Southwest Corridor, including transportation, transit, land use, parks, trails, habitat protection, housing and economic development plans. The intern will gain knowledge about regional government public involvement and planning efforts. The intern will gain research, writing, social media, strategy development, administrative and coordination, event planning and logistics, outreach and media outreach skills.
